O’s Notes: Zohar’s Nigun is a band of four Jewish musicians living in Australia. The leader is violinist David Weltlinger. Daniel Pliner plays piano with bassist Simon Milmen and Alon Ilsar on drums. The music is an expression of their understanding of the cultural evolution in the land they live in. They look for no excuses and pin no blame. Expressing this musically is intriguing, a challenge and quite an adventure. We just sat back and enjoyed the music, several notable selections highlighted by “Hallel” and “Galaktaboureko”.
