O’s Notes: This is bassist Christian McBride’s Big Band. They open with “Shake ‘n Blake” with McBride walking then soloing to set the stage for an upbeat bubbly energetic session. The band is loaded with talent including Steve Wilson (as, fl), Ron Blake (as, ts, fl), Nicholas Payton (t), Michael Dease (tb) and Ulysses Owens, Jr. (d). Melisa Walker sings a few ballads notably “When I Fall In Love”. We also enjoyed the power of the band on “Science Fiction” and “In A Hurry”. The music is incredibly dynamic adding to our enjoyment of a fine set.
