O’s Notes: Ted takes us on a stroll with fourteen compositions from Henry Mancini’s songbook. His bold tenor sax and the creative arrangements reshape the songs. They swing on “Deamsville” with Rufus Reid walking his bass, Frank Kimbrough freely improvising across the melody and Matt Wilson providing sharp accents. This is a talented quartet that takes on intricate phases with ease! Ted blows mellow tones on “Lujon”, “Cheryl’s Theme” and “Two For The Road”. He also soothes us on ” Soldier In The Rain” using his flute. It’s a good session.
