O’s Notes: Harris Simon is a product of the late 1970s, emanating from Queens where many of the finest jazz-fusion players had roots. This CD is a collection of eleven tunes selected from two albums recorded in 1978 and 1980. The level of energy is high and there is a prevalent high dose of passion as well. We owe that to the musicians involved. Claudio Roditti (t), Michael Urbaniak (violin) and Grady Tate (d) are just of few of the talented team performing on these songs. Perhaps the most notable is the late Michael Brecker (sax) captured here on his prime. Simon works the Fender Rhodes to perfection giving us a glimpse of the period with music that stands the test of time.
