O’s Notes: Shannon sings a tribute to Hoagy Carmichael, one of America’s greatest songwriters. The music is warm and presented with fresh arrangements. Forsell is out in front and justifies the position with her rich, beautiful voice. She is backed by a tight band including pianist Zach Lapidus and arranger Rob Dixon (sax). We liked the soft duet with Lapidus on “The Nearness of You”, “Baltimore Oriole” and “Stardust”. Shannon recreates the magic of Hoagy in a delightful way.
