O’s Notes: On November 20-21, 2010 many jazz fans came to Raleigh, NC to enjoy the New Universe Music Festival. There was an abundance of talent in attendance including Wayne Krantz (g) with Anthony Jackson and Cliff Almond (d) playing “Why”; Lenny White (d) with Richie Goods (b) playing “Door #3”; John McLaughlin (g) with Etienne M’Boppe (b) playing “Recovery”; and Ranjit Barot (d) playing “Vignesh Kirtanam”. There is a lot of live energy here for the rock fusion crowd that undoubtedly included many smiles and high fives.
