O’s Notes: This is the soundtrack for The War, a Ken Burns film. The musicians’ roster is a who’s who of America’s best, both old and new! Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman are just a few of the legends present. Norah Jones places her soft vocals on “American Anthem” a fitting opener. The 17 tracks include a wide variety of music including Benny Goodman swinging on “The Wang Wang Blues”, Wynton Marsalis pushing the envelope on “Movin’ Back” and Bing Crosby singing “It’s Been A Long, Long Time” in front of Les Paul (g). This is a strong addition to any collection.
