O’s Notes: Patrick Cooper is a keyboardist and composer who got started in Portland before heading to DC where he currently resides. He wrote and produced all of the music on this disc, his second release and achieves his goal of recreating a smooth jazz groove of yesteryear. This is a smooth jazz set with a generous dose of electronics to keep the beat popping. David Dyson (b), Phillip Martin (sax), Robert Regrind (g) and Tony Hemming (synths) join Patrick to form a tight core that cooks, soothes and relaxes the listener. We hear the influence of George Duke as Cooper spreads his wings. He’s on the right track.
