O’s Notes: This jazz-fusion trio features Jean-Michel Pilc (p), Francois Moutin (b) and Ari Hoenig (b) playing a rather dynamic set of eighteen selections. They typically play free jazz but we hesitate to classify their creative improvisation that way, as it is easy to engage in and enjoy. The selections are a good blend of originals and classics with many highlights. Our favorites are “Think Of One”, “Smile” and “Afro Blue”. The trio sounds like a large ensemble owing to each of their prowess and their harmony as a unit.
