O’s Notes: Jim attended the jazz program at North Texas State University where he developed the sweet alto sax sound that defines his signature. He broke into the New York jazz scene playing with the legendary Jack McDuff. He picks up on that theme over 20 years later with Mike LaDonne (B3), Paul Bollenback (g) and Tony Reedus (d). They start off burning with “Tippin'” one of four Snidero originals. “Young Like” is another burner written by LaDonne dedicated to organist Larry Young, a soulful blues player. Jim extracts romance out of his horn on “Lover Man” in the middle of an exceptional set. There are nine tunes with none worth skipping!
