O’s Notes: To Lady With Love is a delegation to Billie Holiday, and the music she sang. Annie Ross was awestruck by Billie’s music as a teenager and the impression has remained over many years. The recording is an intimate setting with the father and son guitar duo of Bucky and John Pizzarelli. They do an excellent job setting the stage without getting in the way of the words. Ross takes the microphone and ushers some of the Holiday magic into 2014.
