O’s Notes: Guitarist Julien Kasper leads a core trio with Zac Casher (d) and Jesse Williams (b). They get help from several guest artists along the way starting with T Lavitz on the B3 for the funky “Chupacabra”. Matt Jenson takes the B3 seat on two tracks notably “Riff 53”. Julien wrote and produced all of the music. The predominant groove is funky, rock-based jazz led by Kasper’s edgy guitar melodies. Among the best are “Trash Day” and “Trance Groove”. “Abyssinia” is one of a few mellow tunes interspersed in the mix. Step into Kasper’s zone and enjoy it.
