O’s Notes: Darrell has produced, arranged and written most of these swinging sixteen tracks. He employs an all-star cast of musicians including the main ingredients: drummer Brian Blade and bassist John Patitucci. They are spring-like fresh with a peaceful confidence displayed throughout the set. John’s “Introduction” to “Fils Du Soleil” sets the mood for an incredible dedication to Tony Williams. We liked the swing on “Tight” and “King of Pain”. Grant also adds vocals to a few tracks, each with a meaningful set of lyrics. He also prefaces his words with excerpts from some of best speeches on record (Kennedy, King, Mandela, Gandhi and Roosevelt). The entire set is laid back but has power and precision that is moving. It is a combination of word and music that inspires and stimulates. It is: Truth and Reconciliation.
