O’s Notes: Guitarist Anson Wright partners with bassist Tim Gilson to produce Ukiah’s Lullaby, a collection of ten original ballads (three by Gilson). The music is relaxed and poised. Both musicians handle the fleeting passages skillfully while imparting warmth. The result is a peaceful collection that serves as a quiet landscape of enjoyable music. Wright’s style includes lots of sweet chord melodies. It is an excellent complement to the melodic bass lines from Gilson that are pronounced on tunes like “Orion”. We also enjoyed “The Healer”, “Resurrection” and “April Fools”.
