O’s Notes: Pianist JC Hopkins leads a large ensemble including vibes and lots of brass. Queen Esther sings out front and we feel like we are back in the swing era only with today’s high fidelity! And there is an incredible sense of swing. The title track and “Small Town” feature harmonized vocals from Esther with Lewis “Flip” Barnes that blend very well with the honey tones of the brass. This typifies a strong set.
