O’s Notes: Yves was known as the man who seduced all of France, a very popular crooner in the 1950s and early 1960s. Much of the material here is scarce making this a must have for aficionados. Montand also appeared on the silver screen. He was a staunch leftist and one of many appearing on McCarthy’s black list barring him from Hollywood work. While he is revered for his artistry, the quote that keeps him out of my living room is “I think a man can have two, maybe three affairs while he is married. But three is the absolute maximum. After that you’re cheating.” That was the times.
