O’s Notes: Vanessa Fernandez is the voice and Steve Wright plays guitar. They are a dynamic couple and make great music together, all originals! But they aren’t alone a Sam Keevers infuses the piano with Wright on “If Only” while Ben Robertson (b) anchors the beat on the bluesy “Ain’t Love Cruel”. Dave Beck (d), Alex Perttout (perc) and Chang Tim (Hammond) round out the band providing cool beats behind the voice on “I’ve Been There Too” and “Thinkn It Lately”. “Seasons” is kind of folksy and there’s a funky bossa nova groove on “New Knack”. No matter the direction, this is the duo’s showcase and they shine on all ten tracks.
