O’s Notes: We initially thought this project was done to celebrate the Olympics but it is more a celebration of the musical challenges of the different national anthems. Gary (p), and Terre (vocals) assembled a wealth of international musicians all based in New York to record this project. The project was initiated 17 years ago! The arrangements are unique with vocals in English as well as some native tongues. The liner notes have translations that facilitate the experience. The amalgamation is rich with harmony both emotionally and musically that gives us all a better sense of inclusion. Our favorite is “Esperanto”. There is also a DVD that describes the thought process behind the project.
