O’s Notes: Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos is considered to be the father of modern Brazilian music. Mario Adnet has long held a fascination with this music and embraces it fully on this CD. He invites some of Brazils finest musicians to join him including Milton Nascimento, Yamandu Costa, Mnica Salmaso, Paula Santoro, and Muiza Adnet. They open with a rather soft orchestration that is rich with coloration. It is the beginning of a concert that includes instrumentals and vocal selections backed by a full orchestra. The lyrics are in Portuguese and they are delightful. This one had us longing to be there to capture the powerful rendition live!
