O’s Notes: Volcan is a star-laden group featuring Gonzalo Rubalcaba (p), Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez (d), Jose Armando Gola (b) and Giovanni Hildago (congas, perc). The session opens with the funky, syncopated title track. They slow down the tempo by not the intensity on “Sin Punto” featuring Horacio Hernandez. Maridalia Hernandez adds warm vocals on “Corsario” and they extract an excerpt from Dizzy on “Salt Peanuts” to punctuate a super session.
