O’s Notes: This is the sophomore effort from vocalist Sachal Vasandani. Doug Wamble’s acoustic guitar combines with Sachal’s gentle approach on “We Move” and “Royal Eyes” to give a folksy, pop flair to the session. As on his debut, Sachal blends pop and jazz though we find more jazz here with covers of tunes by Elling, Murphy, Hendricks and Betty Carter. His originals are more pop but he has the versatility to excel on both fronts and shine. And indeed Vasandani shines on We Move showing enormous potential. His voice is framed nicely by the band. We particularly liked “Don’t Worry About Me”, “Monk’s Dream” and “Once In A While/Horizons” and anxiously wait to hear more from Sachal.
