O’s Notes: Swingin, brassy big band and a tight rhythm section can be a pleasurable listening experience. While big band jazz is certainly not as popular as in the past, Buddy Charles proves the concept is far from dead. We’re Here is a strong statement showcasing a rich brass based large ensemble. Among the reeds players are Jack Montrose, Gordon Brisker and Pete Christlieb, strong talent. They play eleven classics including “Freddy the Freeloader” and a couple of Buddy’s own compositions “Dama De La Noche” and the hot title track.
