O’s Notes: The union of two talented pianists aboard two specially prepared Steinway D pianos in Rolston Hall at the Banff Center in Vancouver results in a wonderful experience. It is a bit eclectic but never chaotic or distorted in purpose. This will not have mass appeal but is special none-the-less. Andy and Benot take us on a journey in search of Pannonica. Pannonica de Koenigswarter, known simply and ‘Nica’ was a British-born bebop jazz enthusiast and member of the prominent Rothschild international financial dynasty. She would have perhaps been as intrigued by this album as we are. It is a fine creative work made even more enjoyable by exceptional recording quality captured on SACD.
