O’s Notes: The session opens with the sweet simplicity of Kathryn’s voice and Brian Conigliaro’s guitar on “So Many Stars”. Michael Goetz adds a swinging bass line to set the tone for “I Get Along Without You Very Well”. Smith is not bashful and she projects her voice on each of the eleven classic and pop standards. “Nothing Beats The Memories” is the sole original written by Conigliaro and it fits in well in this program of romantic ballads. The recording is close-miced placing the band (especially Kathryn) right in your listening space! Other highlights are the upbeat “My Attorney Bernie” and “Squeeze Me” with nice work on vibes from Dave Samuels. Buckle up and enjoy it.
