O’s Notes: Guitarist Paul Meyers leads a swinging quartet including Frank Wess (sax), bassist Martin Wind and Tony Jefferson keeping time. They open with “Snibor” and we immediately start tapping our feet. That groove kept us engaged through the entire set! Next up is “Blue Lantern” with Wess switching to flute. The program is a blend of Meyers originals and covers of varied tempo. It works very well. Special guest Andy Bey adds his rich baritone vocals on “Lazy Afternoon”, the lone vocal track. We also enjoyed the lazy blues of “Manage a Bleu”.
