O’s Notes: Pianist Bill O’Connell assembles a band of both old and new Latin blood and names the collective the Latin Jazz All-Stars. Steve Slagle (sax), Conrad Herwig (tb), Richie Flores (congas), Luques Curtis (b) and Adam Cruz (d) are among the stars on hand. This one is slamming from the calypso beats of the title track to the relaxed pace of “For All We Know”. Zócalo packs more energy than most making this one of the best Latin releases of the year!
