O’s Notes: This is a jovial, festive se with lots of energy, Drummer, percussionist Richard Baratta center at the center of the action for this set of 12 tunes from the silver screen. He assembles a fine team of musicians including Vincent Herring (a-sax, s-sax, fl), arranger Bill O’Connell (p) and Paul Bollenback (g). The tunes are recognizable with jazzy arrangements that evoke memories of the cinema classics. The liner notes detail Baratta’s career starting in music then to film and now back to jazz. He’s spot-on with The Reel Deal!
