O’s Notes: Michel opens Spirit Of The Moment with the bouncy notes of “Just Now” then relaxes a bit with “My Secret Place”, a warm piece that swings. Bassist Charles Flores does a fine job with the bow adding dimension to the music and also contributes a strong solo on the title track. Dafnis Prieto (d) completes the trio adding punctuation in all the right places. Camilo’s music has a relaxing feeling but it is also energetic with dynamic accents scattered throughout the set. There is a fresh arrangement of “Giant Steps” and the syncopated beats of “Hurry Up and Wait” typifies Michel’s writings and keeps the listening experience interesting. We liked the set.
