O’s Notes: American composer, arranger and producer John Finbury takes us on an intimate journey with American Nocturnes – Final Days of July. It is peaceful, passionate and well-suited for background, meditation and the like. The soft jazz/chamber jazz instrumentation is rather unique featuring pianist Tim Ray, acoustic guitarist Claudio Ragazzi, Eugene Friesen (cello), Robi Eytan (harmonica), with Vitor Gonçalves and Roberto Cassan sharing accordion duties. We never missed the percussion instruments as we were bathed in the soothing tones.
