O’s Notes: Andrea Brachfeld developed a passion for playing the flute as a child and polished her skills eventually working her way to Venezuela where she developed a penchant for Latin jazz that is now an indelible part of her signature. Brazilian Waters is her latest release. It contains mostly Jobim compositions and three originals. Accompanying musicians are Bill O’Connell (p), Harvie S (b), Jason Tiemann (d), Lincoln Goines (b), T Portinho (d, perc) and Chembo Corniel (perc, congas). Andrea’s flute work is excellent, soothing our spirits with equally strong performances from her band. Among the best songs are “Amparo”, “Ligia” and “Espaco Alberto” in a strong set.
