O’s Notes: Austin, TX-based bassist, composer and arranger Angel Roman plays festive Latin music infused with elements across our Jazz Ruler™ resulting in a warm sound that will appeal to a wide audience. Festive Interplay is his fourth release incorporating many local artists. We liked “Dreaming In Bomba”, “The Quest”, “Why Not” and the title track. There’s great musicianship absent of unnecessary showboating that plagues some contemporary jazz. The music feels recognizable though it’s all new.
