O’s Notes: Mayra’s voice is deep and expressive. It resonates with emotion whether she singing the words or scatting, always integral with the music. “Besame Mucho” is a prime example and there are many more both upbeat and mellow. The band includes bassist Jorge Reyes and Tony Perez on piano along with the percussive beats that make the music live. It’s an excellent set of Caribbean jazz featuring one of Cuba’s premier female vocalists.
