O’s Notes: Kat Parra has a rich romantic voice that is well suited for Las Aventuras de Pasion! Her program includes vibrant cha-cha, boleros, bomba, nuevo sefardi and some standard jazz ballads. Most of the lyrics are in Spanish adding to the romantic theme. The musical accompaniment is very good with a cast that includes bassist David Belove, Paul van Wageningen (d), Masaru Koga (sax, fl), José Roberto Hernández (g) and arranger Wayne Wallace (tb). Wayne also co-produced the album with Parra. The mix is rich and the theme resonant making this a winning effort.
