O’s Notes: Harold López-Nussa plays piano and leads the band for New Day, an energetic mix of European, Cuban jazz-fusion. He has roots in both places and incorporates elements from each of the distinct cultures into his sound. Gaston Joya (b) and Ruy Adrián López-Nussa (d, perc) anchor the bottom and impart a sturdy foundation for the session. Harold comes into his own on the titles track, one of our favorites along with “Eso Fue Hace 20” featuring Mayquel González playing trumpet.
