O’s Notes: Costa Rican pianist, composer Jose Soto is one of the many talented musicians coming out of Berklee College of Music. He presents his debut, The Ancestral Call with help from Cuban drummer Francisco Mela and saxophonist George Garzone. It is mostly a set of relaxing Latin music with string accents, light vocals and spoken word from Alí García Segura. The passages are soft, warm, and engaging. Flugelhornist Milena Casado places accents on “Ye’ en ã Part 1”, one of several rich encounters.
