O’s Notes: Undeniably the king of Latin jazz, Tito Puente was an excellent bandleader. He is most commonly associated with the timbales but also played sax, piano and drums. This collection contains 40 of his hits with enough cha-cha and mambo to keep you going for a long time. Crisp brass accents, a lot of syncopated percussion, some occasional vocals and a lot of spirited energy are the definitive characteristics that make the music move.
