O’s Notes: Drummer Brian Anders leads the Afro-Cuban Jazz Cartel, an energetic large ensemble that includes percussionist/co-producer Javier Cabonillas who also contributes a couple of original songs to the mix. The brass is crisp on top of the heavily syncopated Afro-Cuban arrangements. Venissa Sonfi adds vocals on “My One and Only Love”. Brian invites featured artists Alex Acuña, Calixto Oviedo and Louie Romero to play timbales on several selections. They make a hot recording sizzle even more so! This Could Be That top Latin album of the year!
