O’s Notes: Brazilian guitarist and singer Caetano Veloso teams up with Pedro Sá (g, vocals), Ricardo Dias Gomes (b, Rhodes, vocals) and Marcelo Callado (d, vocals) to give us 13 Latin fusion songs. The music is mostly originals by Veloso with a couple if covers. “Perdeu” and “Lobão Tem Razão” are a couple of fusion tunes mixed with tasteful Bossa Nova on “A Cor Amarela”. We found the instrumentation to match the message in the words. The lyrics are all sung in Brazilian Portuguese but the translations are in the liner notes and they provide further insight into the messages. They speak of love, politics, desire and emotions. This is a peek into contemporary Brazilian music.
