O’s Notes: Guitarist Frank Vignola celebrates the music of the legendary guitarist Django Reinhardt. They open with “Rhythm Futur” with a classical bent featuring excellent work by guest artist Julien Labro playing accordion. Track 2 “Troublant Bolero” is a world away giving us a taste of Spanish rhythms and surfacing bassist Gary Mazzaroppi. Frank is up to the task of mimicking Django’s fleeting lead lines as he swings, burns and simmers through ten of Reinhardt’s compositions. “Tears” touches the romantic side before bounce along on “Song D’ Automne” and the classic “Nuages”. Vinny Raniolo is the rhythm guitarist in the trio. This is a fine recording, truly enjoyable.
