O’s Notes: Blues can be about the music or about the lyrics. This session has both with vocals from the master storyteller John Lee Hooker. The music rocks with John Garcia, Jr. playing lead guitar, Jeff Horan (rhythm guitar), Frank Thibeau (b), Mike Rogers (d), Will ‘Roc’ Griffin on keys and Dave Barrett adding harmonica on selected tracks. The horn section, ‘Hot Sauce” makes their presence known with sharp accents. You’ll enjoy listening to “Dear John”, “One Eye Open”. “Blues Ain’t Nothing But a Pimp” and “There’s a Struggle”. Hooker engaged band members to compose the music and Griffin shares in production. This is solid blues entertainment.
