O’s Notes: Jerry is a swinging jazz saxophonist with big fat sound! He teams up with a solid rhythm section consisting of pianist Bruce Barth, Dave Santoro on bass and drummer Andrea Michelutti. The program consists of ten new Bergonzi originals. He listened to Henderson, Turrentine, Gordon and Mobley and we can hear a bit of each of them in his sound. But Jerry has his own signature and when he’s blowing, things are moving and flowing well. Take the time to listen more than once and you gain a better appreciation of what Bergonzi has to say.
