O’s Notes: Marieann soars with vibrant arrangements of traditional holiday carols. She has great stage presence and a strong voice with good pitch. She takes her time on “Let It Snow!” embellishing the lyrics with strong accompaniment from her trio. Doyle Newmyer (p), Boots Maleson (b) and Brian Woodruff (d) interject brief polished solos along the way. None of the arrangements stray too far from the originals. The differentiating point is Meringolo’s vocals and she does well with a performance that would fare well in a church, an orchestra hall or in your listening room. Our favorites are “A Child Is Born”… medley and “It’s Christmas And We’re Jewish”.
