O’s Notes: Mabel’s songs are more than simple phrases. They are recollections of her life experiences, a story vocalized with good accompaniment. It is a part of the rich work of the first half of the 20th Century American Popular Song, as described by Alec Wilder. We enjoyed the poetic selections best as there invite to listener to absorb the story. This is good old-fashioned entertainment!
