O’s Notes: Kari Ikonen plays piano and leads a trio with Bassist Ara Yaralyan and drummer Markku Ounaskari. They perform eight of Ikonen’s originals with a few freshly arranged standards. The music is energetic and vibrant across all tempos. Bright is atypical of what you may have come to expect from Scandinavian jazz. It is less abstract but certainly no less precise with attention to audio accuracy. We enjoyed the set top to bottom.
