O’s Notes: Talinka is a quartet led by Israeli born and London based vocalist Tali Atzmon. This is her debut as a leader but you may recognize her from numerous appearances with her husband Gilad who plays bass clarinet, soprano sax and accordion on this outing. Yaron Stavi (b), Jenny Bliss Bennett (violin, fl, vocals) and guests Frank Harrison (p) and Enzo Zirilli (perc) round out the band. They mix tango, folk and jazz to Tali’s whims. Seven of the ten selections are originals by Tali, Gilad and/or Talinka with three classics recast to fit into this mode. It is earthy with dark tones.
