O’s Notes: Composer Douglas Cuomo’s music is akin to a chamber jazz band with solemn notes, facing the brutal realities of life. He invites Nils Cline (g, electronics) and the Aizuri Quartet with Ayane Kozasa (viola), Karen Ouzounian (cello) and violinists Minho Segusa and Emma Frucht to perform his latest work. Playful plucking and bowing on the strings and guitar are the tools deployed for Seven Limbs. Cline’s liquid melodies on “Dedication Pt II” impart a soft fusion element to the mix.
