O’s Notes: Tierney Sutton’s voice is like a warm embrace, comforting, with rich vocalese and lyrics. She performs with her drummer-less band in multiple configurations including bassist Kevin Axt, Hubert Laws on flutes, and exceptional work on guitar from arranger Serge Merlaud. Sutton opens with the beautiful Bossa Nova of “Triste” that sets the stage for the session. Merlaud shines in duets with Sutton on “April In Paris”, “Isn’t It A Pity” and “Pure Imagination”. Those are just a few of the highlights on Paris Sessions 2, a wonderfully warm encounter!
