O’s Notes: When college professor Sally Terrell was stymied by the pandemic, she turned to her passion for music for relief. She rekindled a fire that was present from her childhood teaming up with her arranger, pianist John di Martino to make Feel Alive, a reaffirmation of life. Sally’s voice is warm and inviting with elements of pop, soul and jazz. Bassist Lonnie Plaxico’s presence is pronounced in a strong band. “Lights and Sirens” features spoken word from guest Giacomo Gates. We also enjoyed the great harmonies on “Beautiful” and ”Feel Alive (Alt)”, with a memorable take on “Some Other Time”.
