O’s Notes: Israeli reeds-man, composer and bandleader Eyal Vilner is an established leader on the New York big band scene. The Jam! is his latest release with vocalists rekindling the spark that made Vilner’s last release, Swing Out a winner. Imani Rousselle opens the set with “Just a Lucky So and So” and also shines on “Will You Be My Quarantine?” Brianna Thomas sings “Hard Hearted Hannah” and swings with the Lindy hoppers on “T’aint What You Do”. The instrumentals are equally good with crisp brass and warm reeds notably on “Chad’s Delight” and the title track.
