O’s Notes: Blue Bayou is the debut recording from vocalist Neysa Ricciardi and cellist Michael Ronstadt. This is an entertaining, emotional blend of New Orleans jazz with mainstream popular music that will resonate with a large audience. They have polished musicians behind them including Pablo Batista (perc), Matt Cappy (t), Jay Davidson (sax, keyboards), and Chuck Staab (d). There are a dozen songs, including fresh arrangements of songs you know. “My Foolish Heart”, “Save Your Love For Me”, and “On Green Dolphin Street” are a few. Ricciardi puts her imprint and soul into each track making this enjoyable, almost intoxicating music.
